I won’t claim that I knew Dana so intimately that he was like a father figure to me. But what amazes me is how, in just one year since meeting him at the Mythologium Conference in 2023, he became both a friend to me and my Dad. He was one of my biggest supporters at Pacifica, reading every paper I wrote and sharing his thoughts with me. He constantly messaged my Dad—about myth, about life, about everything and nothing. Dana was the visionary behind Myth Salon, one of the largest myth communities, uniting the brightest minds of scholars and artists alike. The scale of Myth Salon has reached people literally across the world, and it was all because this one man had this incredible passion for the subject and the people who engaged in it. His presence was felt in all corners of the universe when it came to Myth. And so is his passing, which has rippled right through my heart. Though our friendship was brief, it felt like a friendship centuries in the making—a true testament to mythic timing. Time does not exist when we enter mythic space.

In honor of Dana's passing, the Myth Salon panel originally scheduled for tonight has been postponed to next year. I’ll share more about it when the time comes. For now, you can learn more on the website: https://www.mythouse.org/mythosophia/categories/myth-salon. Heartfelt thanks to Will Linn for organizing and keeping everything moving forward since Dana’s passing.
