I am thrilled to share some exciting news: this coming March 2025, I will be presenting my paper on the White Snake fable from Chinese mythology at the International Conference of the Association for the Study of Women and Mythology in Arizona. The subject coincides with 2025 being the Year of the Snake. This also marks another pivotal moment in my academic journey as I delve deeper into the intersection of mythology, depth psychology, and cultural storytelling.

The White Snake fable has captivated audiences for centuries with its themes of transformation, forbidden love, and the interplay between human and divine forces. My presentation will explore how this story reflects archetypal patterns, feminine empowerment, and the complexities of moral ambiguity. A key focus of my paper is how the White Snake character embodies the bond between humanity and nature through her physical form as half human and half snake. This duality serves as a powerful symbol of the interconnectedness between human beings and the natural world, reminding us of the importance of harmony and mutual respect.

Additionally, I will examine the fable through the lens of eco-psychology, focusing on the intricate relationship between humanity and nature. The story’s vivid depiction of rivers, mountains, and other natural elements underscores the deep bond between the human spirit and the environment—a relationship we must reimagine and nurture in today’s rapidly changing world.

This conference is an incredible opportunity to connect with other scholars who are equally passionate about the study of myth and its enduring significance. I’m eager to engage in dialogue about how stories like the White Snake continue to shape and inspire our collective psyche while reminding us of our responsibilities toward the Earth.

Stay tuned for updates as I prepare for this presentation, and be sure to follow along on here or on my Social Media pages for behind-the-scenes reflections and insights as I bring this ancient tale to life in a contemporary scholarly setting.

I can’t wait to share this journey with you!
